Step 6: Prepare yourself
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail. - James 5:16
Many times in Iraq, I provided aerial security for soldiers actively fighting the enemy. On one particular occasion, my team arrived after a U.S. ground soldier received a gunshot wound to his leg. My team's first task was to subdue the enemy, then provide security so the medical evacuation helicopter could rescue the wounded. Thankfully, the soldier was treated and later returned to duty. While sad, wounds are indeed a part of warfare.
Spiritual warfare is no different; wounds are common. A wounded soldier is limited in the support they can provide. What is critical is the healing of wounds so soldiers may return to the fight.
In the spiritual sense, these wounds often lead to and are referred to as strongholds, chains, and slavery/bondage to sin. Even growing up in Church and accepting Christ as my Savior at an early age, I found myself in bondage to lust and pornography for ~ 20 years of my life. It wasn't until I laid it all out, confessed my sins with a small group of righteous believers, and prayed the blood of Christ over those chains that I became free. Since March 13, 2021, I have remained free from said strongholds and have not looked back (something I could not do on my own even though I desired to for the same ~20 years).
What about you? Is any darkness still attached to you that needs to be brought into the light (John 3:21)? Pride will most certainly get in the way, but it must be cast aside. There is no shame in confessing and being set free.
The words of Jesus have taken a new meaning in my life and are indeed accurate! So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36). If you have not experienced the power of the cross (1 Corinthians 1:17), I implore you to pray about it and do so. The link below is an excellent resource for identifying wounds, strongholds, and generational sins in a person's life. The ministry also offers free prayer sessions to address these, should one so choose.
